Priapism: a urological emergency

This isn't a curiosity: priapism is a medical emergency, and an erection that persists can cause permanent damage to erectile tissue if it isn't relieved quickly. Brain, blood pressure, and the body-wide reach
Melanotan 2 is non-selective, so its effects don't stay in the skin. A case report describes posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) — a condition of brain swelling that can present with headache, seizures, visual disturbance, and high blood pressure — in association with use [22]. Preclinical work shows melanocortin agonists can raise blood pressure, an effect worsened when nitric-oxide signaling is impaired [23][24].
